National Day Fireworks Light Up Taichung Port – Complete Traffic Route Guide

During the National Day holiday, an estimated 500,000 people are expected to gather at the Taichung Port stage area to watch the fireworks. The Taichung City Police Department will implement traffic control and guidance measures starting at 2:00 PM on both October 10 and 11. Visitors are advised to arrive early and consider using public transportation such as Taiwan Railways, BRT, or the free Jhinyi Line, Wuchi Line, and Qingshui Line shuttle buses to avoid congestion and inconvenience.

The Taichung City Government has implemented the following traffic measures: an additional 50 BRT vehicles for shuttle services, shuttle buses running at peak times every 5 minutes, six extra train services added, and approximately 11,000 car parking spaces available around the event venue. Additionally, traffic control will be in place around Taichung Port from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM on October 10 and 11.

BRT
The Taichung City Government will deploy 50 additional BRT vehicles for shuttling from 14:00 to 24:00 on the day of the event, with each bus accommodating about 100 passengers and running every 2 minutes.

Shuttle Buses
There are three pickup locations for the shuttle buses to the event venue. Please note: “the disembarkation point is also the boarding point.”

1. Providence University (BRT terminal)
2. Qingshui Railway Station (at the intersection of Xinghai Road and Zhongxing Street)
3. Wuchi New Town Parking Lot (at the intersection of Dayong Road and Section 1, Siwei Road)

Shuttle Bus Schedule:

Outbound buses will run from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, transporting passengers to the event venue.
Return buses will begin operating from 8:00 PM from Taichung Port and will continue until all passengers have been transported.

For Drivers
Deputy Director of the Transportation Bureau, Lin Ming-hsi, stated that traffic control will be enforced from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM on October 10 and 11. The controlled sections are as follows:
1. West of Provincial Highway 17 (from Zhongqing Road to Section 2 of Nanhuang Road) will be designated as a no-entry zone for vehicles. Control time: 14:00–23:30
2. Sections of Provincial Highways 10 and 12 west of Provincial Highway 61 will be set as public transport control zones. Control time: 16:00 until the end of transportation services

3. Select ramps on the elevated section of Provincial Highway 61 (West Coast Expressway) will be controlled. Control time: 18:00–20:00 (northbound: Wuchi and Qingshui ramps; southbound: Wuchi and Longjing ramps)
4. Nanhuang 8th Road and Longchang Road will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles (for safety and emergency rescue)

For those driving, the city government has arranged approximately 11,000 parking spaces at Wuchi New Town Parking Lot, the intersection of Daren Road and Lingang Road, Hungkuang University of Science and Technology, and areas west of Provincial Highways 17, 61, and 1.

Qingshui Railway Station will also add six extra train services on October 10 and 11.
