Tainan’s “Kueidan Hot Springs” Offers Coed Naked Baths; Japanese Tourists Flock to Experience It

The long-popular “naked bath” concept in Japan is now available in Tainan too. The well-known hot spring homestay“Kueidan Leisure Experience Farm”has introduced the naked bath idea by setting up separate male and female naked baths within the resort, attracting many Japanese tourists who have heard about it and come to try it out.

According to a report by the Liberty Times, Kueidan Leisure Experience Farm is a well-known local hot spring destination, often frequented by tourists who come specifically to soak in the thermal waters and relax both body and mind. To attract more visitors, the operator has not only added children’s play pools of various sizes but has also specially designed male and female naked baths, each about 15 pyeong in size, following the traditional Japanese bathing style — a move that has drawn considerable attention.

The farm management stated that although it has only been about half a month since the coed naked baths opened, and although Taiwanese people are not yet accustomed to the practice of bathing naked with strangers, the facility has attracted many Japanese tourists who came specifically for the experience. According to their statistics, the number of Japanese visitors has increased by about 40% compared to the same period last year, while usage among Taiwanese is also gradually rising. Many Japanese guests have told the management that after relaxing in the hot springs here, they can take a bus back to downtown Tainan and still have time for an evening stroll through historical sites and old streets — it’s really convenient.
