Finally！ The Daxueshan Recreation Area will open on August 8th, with half-price entry for passenger cars

Beautiful Taiwan boasts stunning mountain ridges and ever-changing sea of clouds. Daxueshan is home to the world’s largest expanse of alpine primeval forest. Located in the rear section of the main ridge of the Snow Mountain Range, the Daxueshan National Forest Recreation Area features a complete alpine primeval forest landscape, making it a dream destination for hikers and outdoor sports enthusiasts. However, due to continuous heavy rains in June, the Daxueshan Forest Recreation Area was temporarily closed for repairs and is expected to reopen to passenger cars on August 8th.

Due to consecutive days of heavy rain, the roadbed at kilometer 38.2 of the Daxueshan Forest Road suffered severe erosion. Since closing on June 6th for emergency repairs, it is expected to reopen to passenger cars on August 8th. Medium-sized buses and other Class B large vehicles are expected to be allowed access in late August. Currently, aside from trails in the Xiaoxueshan area, which remain closed due to forest road management projects, many other trails are still open for exploration. Additionally, all entry tickets will be offered at half price.

Daxueshan Lodge will also open online reservations in three batches at 6:00 AM on August 2nd and 4th to prevent website crashes due to sudden traffic surges. The Forestry Bureau also reminds the public that post-typhoon mountain weather is relatively unstable. When engaging in outdoor activities in the mountains, do not linger in areas prone to falling rocks and always stay aware of environmental conditions to avoid danger.
