Another Universal Studios site in Asia is now expected to be added. Universal Studios USA has confirmed plans to invest in building the third Asian Universal Studios in Beijing, with completion and operation targeted for 2019.
Universal Parks & Resorts announced in Beijing on the 13th that the Chinese government has approved the construction of a 300-acre (121.5-hectare) theme park, with an investment of 20 billion RMB (approximately 3.27 billion USD). According to reports from mainland media, Beijing Universal Studios will be located in the Tongzhou Cultural Tourism Zone. In addition to popular attractions such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers: The Ride 3D, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and Jurassic Park River Adventure, Beijing Universal Studios will also incorporate elements of traditional and modern Chinese culture into its park design.
Universal Studios is one of the world’s top three theme parks, where visitors can relive classic movie scenes through one attraction after another. The immersive effects and thrilling experiences attract an increasing number of visitors each year. Asia currently has two Universal Studios locations—in Osaka and Singapore. Once officially completed, Beijing Universal Studios will become the third Universal Studios site in Asia.
