2017 Tongluo Chrysanthemum Festival

It has been running since 11/18 already. As someone from Miaoli, coming back home of course means enjoying chrysanthemums (hangju)! (The image above is taken from)Flowers in Tongluo, detailed event information can be found by clicking the link.
The chrysanthemum viewing period lasts from mid-November to early December. Those who want to admire Hangzhou chrysanthemums and take beautiful photos should seize the time—beautiful flowers wait for no one. The Tonglu Hangzhou Chrysanthemum event is held at the Jiuhu Plateau in Tonglu. Once you arrive at Jiuhu, you can see vast fields of chrysanthemum blossoms spread out over a wide area. We simply picked a random spot to enjoy the chrysanthemums.
If time permits, visiting on a weekday is better for photos, but weekends are livelier, with vendors selling sugarcane peanuts, chrysanthemums, and water chestnuts. However, parking is harder on weekends due to heavier traffic. If you’re only there for the chrysanthemums, you won’t need to stay long. It’s recommended to combine your visit with other nearby attractions, such as Jiuhua Mountain or the Marble Soda Visitors Factory.

I visited on the second day of the Hangju start run. Although there were many cars and people, luckily, there weren’t too many tourists when I went to take photos of the Hangju fields, so I could take pictures freely. However, the scenery wasn’t as spectacular in scale.

The entire field of snow-white chrysanthemums looked as if a layer of snow had blanketed the farmland, instantly lifting my spirits. During the chrysanthemum season, traffic controls are implemented on holidays.Detailed transportation information.

The petite and delicate chrysanthemums are quite adorable, though many of the blossoms have blackened areas. These chrysanthemums will later be harvested to make tea.

Visiting the Tongluo Hangzhou Chrysanthemum Field lets you enjoy being surrounded by flowers—photos taken here are quite scenic.
Flower farmers allow people to enter the flower fields, but these chrysanthemums are the hard-earned results of the farmers' labor, so please take good care of them and avoid damaging or trampling on them.

This sea of flowers is about the same height as Junjun. The chrysanthemums seem to have exploded into bloom—it’s incredibly beautiful and perfect for portrait photography.

Besides the white chrysanthemums, there were also yellow ones nearby. According to others’ posts, there were even pink ones too. Additionally, there were sunflower and Persian daisy fields. If you have enough time, you can walk around and take more photos. We didn’t stay long that day because we were with elderly family members and it was getting late.

Yellow chrysanthemums, like the white ones, bloom in an explosive floral display, but because their petals lack black markings, they look even better in close-up shots than the white ones.

Additionally, I came across these unnamed purple flowers by the roadside, which were quite pretty too.

After leaving the Nine Lakes Plateau, we arrived not far away at the Marble Soda Visitors Factory. Be sure to make a reservation in advance to ensure you can do the DIY experience. We came on the spur of the moment that day, and by the time we arrived it was close to closing time, so we didn’t get to do the DIY. However, we were still able to go inside the factory, take a look around, and buy some marble soda.

DIY and guided tour activities are $200 per person, free for kids under three. There are three giant bottles of Ramune (Japanese soda) displays outside for photos.

Upon entering the Marble Soda Visitors Factory, you can see marble soda (a type of candy) everywhere. The children were thrilled and immediately started playing with it...

There are also arcade games such as pinball machines, quite a few varieties in total, which are novel and fun for children. When visiting the Tongluo Jiuhu area to see the Hangzhou chrysanthemums, you can also plan to bring kids along for some playtime!
