The world’s smallest internet cafe is made from a phone booth – and you can also get coffee

A red phone booth has been transformed into a 24-hour internet cafe that even has a coffee machine andan “honesty box”...... It’s located in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. This bright red phone booth is a well-known local tourist attraction, where visitors can brew coffee while sending or receiving mail.

The phone booth was purchased from British Telecom by the Ballogie and Birse Community Council for “£1” (about NT$50), and has become a must-visit spot between Angus and Royal Deeside.

Local resident Sarah Hack, whose family runs a gallery in the area, said the phone booth has boosted local tourism. “We used to have a tea service at the gallery, but we wanted to focus on the art business, so we closed it. The issue was that travelers kept asking for tea and coffee, so we installed a coffee machine in the phone booth.”

“This area is rural Scotland, so we think it serves as a rest stop for drivers,” she said. The coffee service will continue to move toward a self-service model. Moreover, this ultra-small “internet cafe,” which is only 0.8 square meters in size, has a unique payment method – letting users decide “how much they think it’s worth.”
