Top 10 Most Checked-in Attractions Worldwide in 2017 — Disney Parks Take Four Spots

Aside from Facebook, more and more people are now using Instagram to check in. Recently, Instagram released a list of the top 10 most checked-in tourist attractions globally in 2017. Topping the list is Disneyland in California, USA. In addition to Disneyland California, Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan, Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, and Disney California Adventure Park also secured the 5th, 6th, and 9th spots respectively — meaning four Disney theme parks made it into the top ten.

Known as “the happiest place on Earth,” Disneyland appeals to fans of all ages, from children to adults. Recently, the park has been continuously expanding its themed areas. For example, after launching the Avatar-themed land in May 2017, it was also announced that “Star Wars-themed lands” will be created in both Florida and California Disney parks, with openings planned for 2019.

Additionally, it was recently reported that Tokyo Disney Resort plans to invest 300 billion yen to expand its current area by 30%. As for the expansion content, themed areas based on “Frozen” and “Beauty and the Beast” are the most likely candidates. The new plan is expected to be announced in 2018, when the exact themes will be revealed.

As for the second-place spot, New York’s Times Square in the USA is also a must-visit attraction for many travelers to the city. Located at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue, it now welcomes hundreds of thousands of people every New Year’s Eve to ring in the new year. The third-place attraction is also in New York — Central Park. Situated in the heart of Manhattan, this expansive park is not only the most visited in the United States but also a significant national historic landmark. This backyard oasis for New Yorkers is also an important pilgrimage site for travelers from around the world visiting New York.
