The Taichung Imperial Sugar Factory Taichung Business Office is located in Quanyuanli, East District. Built in 1935, it was once a glorious sugar refinery during the Japanese colonial period. With the passage of time, it has now become a precious historic building and will be transformed next year into the “Taichung Industrial Story Museum,” combining performance spaces and creative elements to create a new historical cultural landmark.
The Imperial Sugar Refinery clearly documents the precious history of Taiwan’s sugar industry. As early as 2007, it was registered as a historical site in Taichung City. The city government has also allocated a budget of 20 million NTD to carry out renovation work this August. Combining the outdoor ecological pond and surrounding factory attractions, the total area spans 6 hectares, and it is tentatively named the “Taichung Imperial Sugar Refinery Lakeside Ecological Park,” creating a new attraction in Taichung.

▲After completion, the spacious landscape park and water area will cover a total area of 6 hectares.
This brand-new Taichung Industrial Story Museum has an interior area of nearly 500 pyeong. Inside, it clearly records the history of Taiwan’s sugar industry, the blacksmith caves, and past life stories of the sugar factory, creating a new space that is both educational and fun. It is expected to be completed next year and officially open to the public in 108.
