Bangkok’s ultra-cool prison-themed hostel: Check in, take a mugshot, swap into black-and-white inmate uniforms, and sleep in a cell

Many old prisons around the world have been converted into hostels, and now travelers in Southeast Asia—Thailand—can also try this unique stay. Sook Station in Bangkok just opened this summer, where guests can spend about NT$1,500 for a night and experience what it’s like to be in jail.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, this budget hostel located in the Udomsuk district offers guests a completely new accommodation experience. In addition to typical prison-style features like metal doors and barred windows, each room is only 8 square meters.

Upon check-in, guests are required to take a suspect-style photo, after which staff will hand you a black-and-white prison uniform. Most uniquely, you won’t be given a key but rather your prisoner number.

Although a prison-themed hostel might not be for everyone, adventurous travelers might want to check it out.
