The Iya Valley Gorge in Shikoku is known as one of Japan’s Three Hidden Regions. The Yoshino River cuts through the mountain range, forming the Great Otaki Gorge and the Little Otaki Gorge. “Otaki” (literally “dangerous steps”) describes the steep cliffs that are dangerous even when taking big or small steps—a term that highlights the area’s unique terrain and scenery.

Take a boat cruise through the Great Otaki Gorge to fully appreciate its beauty. Glide between towering cliffs and slowly admire the scenery along the way.
