Scoot Airlines launched flights between Singapore and Cairns in 2015, making it more convenient to reach the Great Barrier Reef

Scoot Airlines announced that it plans to commence flights between Singapore and Cairns, Australia, on May 30, 2015, making Cairns its second destination in Australia after Darwin.

Scoot Airlines will operate Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with plans to offer three weekly flights between Singapore and Cairns on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Saturday flight will depart Singapore and fly directly to Cairns, then make a stop in Darwin before returning to Singapore. Flights on Mondays and Thursdays will stop in Darwin before arriving in Cairns, then return directly to Singapore.

Scoot Airlines stated that Cairns was originally the external port for inland gold mines in Australia and is now the hub of tropical North Queensland. It is also the closest entry and exit point to the Great Barrier Reef. With the launch of Scoot Airlines' services, it is expected that Cairns will see an increase of 20,000 passengers per year.
