Chasing the First Light of the New Year – TRA’s “Sanxiantai Dawn Train” Tickets Go on Sale on the 28th

As 2015 approaches, Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is adding 304 extra services between December 31 and January 5 of next year to accommodate travelers during the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s holiday period. Ticket booking opens at midnight on December 17.

The upcoming New Year’s holiday has been confirmed to last four consecutive days, and many people have already started planning their countdown and sunrise-welcoming activities. TRA announced that it will operate additional services for six consecutive days starting December 31, including 45 services for New Year’s Eve parties, 119 Tze-Chiang Limited Express services on the Eastern Line (including the South-Link Line), 52 Chu-Kuang Express services, and 24 Fu-Hsing and Local trains, totaling 195 services; as well as 37 Tze-Chiang services, 34 Chu-Kuang services, and 38 Local trains on the Western Line, totaling 109 services.

Taitung’s Sanxiantai has long been a popular spot for welcoming the first light of the new year. This time, TRA has collaborated with the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration to launch the “Sanxiantai Dawn Shines on the New Year” cruise-style train, with ticket sales beginning at 9 AM on November 28.
