Guangdong's new low-cost carrier "9 Air" offers tickets for just 45 yuan — 2000 yuan compensation for flight delays

Guangdong's first low-cost airline "9 Air" announced it will officially launch on December 2, with the first Guangzhou-Zhanjiang route offering an ultra-low price of just 9 RMB (approximately 45 NTD)!

9 Air is Guangzhou's first low-cost carrier (LCC), based at Baiyun Airport. In its initial phase, it will focus on domestic routes and use brand-new Boeing 737-800 aircraft; in line with typical low-cost carrier operations, all in-flight meals are paid separately, and free baggage allowance ranges from 5 to 15 kilograms. Future international routes will target destinations within a 5-hour flight radius, such as Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.

The most talked-about aspect of the airline is its ultra-low fare of just 9 RMB after launch. According to mainland media reports, 9 Air will also offer a series of discounted tickets priced at 99 RMB, 199 RMB, and 299 RMB, with an overall expected price that is 20%-30% lower than other low-cost carriers.

"Accumulated Flight Delay Insurance" is another highly anticipated innovation. Ji Guangping, President of 9 Air Co., Ltd., stated that passengers who purchase this insurance and experience a flight delay of 2 hours or more with 9 Air will receive 100 RMB (approximately 500 NTD) in compensation without needing to submit written claims. For delays of 3 hours, an additional 100 RMB will be compensated; for 4-hour delays, the compensation increases to 200 RMB. If a flight is delayed for over 5 hours, a fourth compensation will be issued, with a cumulative maximum compensation of up to 500 RMB.
