Odakyu Electric Railway Launches Free Wi-Fi in Hakone, Available Even on Pirate Ships

Japanese railway company Odakyu Electric Railway announced on the 27th that it will launch "odakyu Free Wi-Fi" for tourists visiting Hakone starting December 1. The service will be available at major Odakyu stations in the Hakone area, and can even be used on Hakone pirate ships.

"odakyu Free Wi-Fi" is scheduled to launch on December 1 and will be available at Odakyu Line Shinjuku Station, Odakyu Line Odawara Station, Odakyu Romancecar (VSE, MSE, LSE), major Hakone area stations (Hakone-Yumoto, Gora, Kowakudani, Sounzan, Togendai, Miyanoshita, Hakone-machi, Moto-Hakone, and Hakone-Izu), as well as on Hakone pirate ships.

One unique aspect is that to use "odakyu Free Wi-Fi," users must first download a dedicated app (available for both iOS and Android). Registration can be done using Facebook, Twitter, Google, or Yahoo! JAPAN accounts, and the service is valid for a 30-day period.
