Poor visibility ! Matsu Airport temporarily closed & voters returning home may have to wait until the afternoon

The 29th is an important voting day for the Nine-in-One Elections, with people across Taiwan returning home to cast their ballots. However, visibility in Matsu was poor this morning, and the local airport is currently temporarily closed. Several flights cannot take off or land, and voters hoping to return home to vote may have to wait until the afternoon.

It rained in Matsu this morning, and both the Beigan and Nangan airports have been closed since early morning. Li Lijun, director of the Nangan Airport Aviation Office, said that it seems unlikely the airport will be able to open this morning, but there may be a chance around noon.

Currently, only Uni Air operates flights to Matsu. The five morning flights from Taipei to Matsu were all fully booked but have been canceled. Uni Air stated that if the Matsu Airport reopens this afternoon, passengers on the morning canceled flights will be given priority for standby. (News source: CNA)
