Three football fields large, accommodating 3,000 people — the world’s largest ice rink opens in Moscow

According to the British edition of"Russia Beyond The Headlines"(rbth.co.uk), the world’s largest artificial ice rink officially opened last month (November) in Moscow. This ice rink, nearly the size of three football fields, is located between the “Friendship of Peoples Fountain” and the “Stone Flower Fountain” on the avenue of the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh).

Ice skating is one of the most important sports in Russia, and over 25,000 Muscovites personally witnessed the opening day. To prevent too many people flooding onto the ice at once, the exhibition center had to limit the number of entries. The new ice rink, spanning an enormous area of 6,000 pyeong (20,510 square meters), is 1,310 square meters larger than the current world’s second-largest ice rink, FlevOnice in the Netherlands, and can accommodate 3,000 people at the same time.

Different areas are designated for various types of skating, including figure skating, dance skating, and children’s skating, to ensure comfort and safety. The venue also features 5,000 square meters of lighting equipment, as well as other facilities such as six rental booths, three changing rooms, two medical service areas, five cafes, and restaurants. Visitors who don’t wish to skate can also take a stroll on the Rainbow Bridge.

Admission Fees
Prices vary by weekday or weekend, and by child or adult, at approximately NT$90–200 per hour.
