Step into Kitty’s pink heels！Tokyo hotel unveils limited-time Hello Kitty-themed rooms

The world’s most beloved cat, “Hello Kitty,” turns 40 this year, with celebrations taking place around the globe. Recently, she celebrated back home in Japan by collaborating with a well-known hotel to launch two limited-time “Hello Kitty Rooms.” On Christmas Day, an exclusive light show on the hotel’s exterior will mark her grand 40th birthday celebration.
Hello Kitty has partnered with Keio Plaza Hotel this year, launching the “Pink Princess Kitty Room” and “Kitty Town” two themed room types starting November 1 at its Shinjuku and Tama branches. As the name suggests, the Pink Princess Kitty Room features varying shades of pink throughout—from the carpet and walls to the beds and even the bathroom amenities. One corner of the room also includes a deep pink high-heel-shaped chair, becoming the room’s standout feature.

The Pink Princess Kitty Room, inspired by the color pink, is one of the hotel's featured options, including a uniquely shaped high-heel chair that is a highlight of the room.
The “Kitty Town” themed room takes a bright and cheerful approach, with light colors and polka-dot styles on the floors, low cabinets, beds, and chairs. The walls are adorned with murals of Kitty and her friends enjoying amusement parks and exploring downtown Tokyo, allowing guests to embark on a new journey with Kitty as soon as they step into the room.

To attract guests, both branches have also created exclusive limited-edition Kitty merchandise. The Tama branch offers a branch-exclusive Kitty dessert set, featuring cookies printed with Kitty designs and decorated with red bows made from chocolate sauce—so adorable you won’t want to eat them. There is also a daily limited supply of five Kitty cakes, which are available for takeout only and must be reserved in advance.
The Shinjuku branch incorporates a Kitty theme into its Christmas Eve light show, using the opening and closing of room curtains to project patterns of Christmas trees and Kitty onto the building’s façade using lights from inside the rooms, allowing guests to take part in the festivities.

Guests staying in the Kitty Rooms can also receive exclusive gifts in their rooms. The Shinjuku branch offers six types of gifts: a stationery set, an official Kitty plush toy, a bow-shaped bottled water, a ballpoint pen, a small tote bag, and a travel-sized skincare set. The Tama branch gives out three items: a plush toy, a small tote bag, and a ballpoint pen.
