A popular Lounge bar in Taipei — enjoy a cocktail and a relaxing weekend!

That evening, we hit three spots in a row, starting fromDivinotoPicoPico, and finally strolled to 4play near Ren’ai Circle, one of Taipei’s well-known lounge bars. 4play’s first and second branches are just steps apart. The styles and food offerings of the two venues differ slightly, but both are very popular — reservations are a must on weekends.

The second branch is divided into two areas. The section near the entrance has a few sofa seats, which are brighter and perfect for a cozy chat for two. The other area mainly consists of large shared tables and the bar counter. That night, it was completely packed. Besides having a nice vibe, the music at 4play isn’t too loud, and the service is pleasant and professional. There’s no menu, but even those who know nothing about cocktails can easily find a drink they’ll enjoy.

Dishes are listed on the blackboard by the communal tables. Alongside bar snacks, there are also a few main courses like steak. Of course, by the time we got there, we’d already been to two other places, so we just ordered a couple of dishes to go with our drinks. First, we had spicy beef tendons stir-fried until tender, followed by a plate of basil-flavored squid. The beef tendons were pre-cooked to a soft texture, and both dishes were flavorful with aromatic seasonings. They were on the richer side, but the flavors weren’t heavy-handed — and each was only NT$180, which is quite reasonable. As for regular cocktails, they’re around NT$250–350 (we only found out when we got the bill). The table next to us ordered something that looked familiar — the “Drugs” series we’d tried before at Trio. That one’s definitely meant for sharing among a group. Those were nostalgic days!

Fresh fruit cocktails are also quite popular here. There’s a wooden barrel of fruit displayed right in front of the bar. Both grapefruit and mango cocktails were great — the flavors blended smoothly with the base spirits, and the fruit taste was sweet and tangy enough. You can also request a higher alcohol content, but it doesn’t feel overly harsh. I ordered a Martini, which was chilled just right and had a drier taste. Later, I added a tea-based cocktail by mistake, but I went ahead and drank it anyway — it had a rich citrus flavor and turned out to be another Martini-style drink. In the end, the bill came to about NT$1,600, with no service charge. It’s a great spot with tasty cocktails at reasonable prices.
