Known for being affordable, great value, and delicious, it has earned the nickname “Fast Food King of Southern Taiwan” and is extremely popular among students in the south. Aside from its prices, its blend of Eastern and Western flavors has sparked discussions online. Options like hamburgers paired with noodles in broth or Cantonese-style congee have won over more and more fans, even becoming an alternative “attraction” for visitors exploring the south.

2nd Place: Mei Er Mei

It’s safe to say that anyone who grew up in Taiwan knows about the breakfast shop “Mei Er Mei.” It can be considered the pioneer of Western-style chain breakfasts in Taiwan, accompanying countless people during their morning meals for over 20 years.

3rd Place: Good Morning Michi City

Good Morning Michi City is another brand under the Mei Er Mei transformation. Launched in 2004 and less than 10 years old, compared to Mei Er Mei, it offers “uniquely textured specialty bread” and “freshly brewed tea drinks.”

4th Place: Laya Burger

Established in 2002, “Laya Burger” focuses on American-style brunch. Although its prices are relatively higher, it uses high-quality ingredients and offers innovative, diverse products that set it apart from traditional breakfast shops. Here you can find bagels, rice burgers, Texas burgers, and various other types of burgers. Laya Burger also offers sides like golden crispy fries, hash browns, and pasta.

5th Place: Fuhang Soy Milk

When talking about breakfast shops in Taipei, you can’t miss Fuhang Soy Milk. As early as 6 a.m., when it’s still quite dark, people start lining up. Its immense popularity even caught the attention of the tax authorities, making it the first soy milk shop to issue receipts. Diners highly recommend the thick Chinese pancake for its crispy exterior without being dry or hard, while the thin version also has plenty of loyal fans.

6th Place: Haochu Breakfast

It’s no exaggeration to say that this shop helped kickstart the brunch trend in Banqiao area. It’s also a breakfast shop recommended by many bloggers. As a result, customer numbers continue to grow, and you can’t get in without queuing. Even after opening a second branch, weekends still mean waiting in line.

7th Place: Maiweideng

Maiweideng and Mei Er Mei are both veteran breakfast brands, with over 1,000 stores combined between company-owned and franchised locations, and they are even expanding into the Chinese market.

8th Place: World Soy Milk King

The World Soy Milk King is considered the founding store of Yonghe Soy Milk. Located under the Zhongzheng Bridge in Yonghe District, New Taipei City, back in the day there weren’t many places in Taipei that served late-night snacks, so many night owls would come here to fill up after their activities. Although similar Yonghe Soy Milk shops have proliferated, this old shop remains popular, with a steady stream of customers.

9th Place: Hongye Burger

Hongye Burger has numerous locations across Taiwan, totaling around 670. You’ve probably seen them near markets or schools.

10th Place: Lailai Soy Milk

Like the World Soy Milk King, it’s a decades-old shop located in Neihu District, Taipei, but it gained fame due to the “Yin Ching-feng Murder Case.”
