Top 10 Must-Try Sweet Taro Ball Shops Across Taiwan – “Shuanglian Round Balls Soup” Claims the Championship

Next week is the Winter Solstice, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy a warm bowl of taro balls. A domestic portal site recently held“2014 Winter Solstice Must-Try Top 10 Sweet Taro Balls”voting campaign, allowing netizens to vote for the most popular taro ball shops around the country. Once again, the champion from last year, “Shuanglian Round Balls Soup,” has secured the top spot.

The top three are: Taipei’s 60-year-old shop “Shuanglian Round Balls Soup,” which earned the honor; “Taiyi Milk King,” once selected as the campus champion food; and “Sanliu Round Balls Soup,” a 70-year-old shop in Taipei’s Wanhua Longshan Temple that has made the list for three consecutive years.

4th Place: Chen Wan-zhi Red Bean Taro Balls (Yilan)

5th Place: Baosang Taro Balls (Taitung)

6th Place: Badong Round Balls Soup (Taipei)

7th Place: Cai Family Taro Balls (Hualien)

8th Place: Yancheng Li Family Taro Balls (Kaohsiung)

9th Place: Mom Su’s Taro Balls (Nantou)

10th Place: Xin Xin Shop (Taichung)

The website stated that this year’s list features rising star taro ball shops such as Cai Family Taro Balls, Yancheng Li Family Taro Balls, and Xin Xin Shop. However, many shops have consistently ranked in the top ten for three years in a row. Even with slight fluctuations in ranking, they remain highly favored by consumers. The top-ranked Shuanglian Round Balls Soup has claimed the championship for two consecutive years. The list also shows that netizens tend to choose well-reviewed, long-established shops when it comes to taro balls.
