Cash flow problems strike again as two travel agencies in Yuanhe and Fuxia suddenly shut down, leaving 1,300 travelers' holidays in ruins

Another travel agency goes bust! The “Yuanhe Travel Agency” and “Fuxia Travel Agency” in Taipei City have unexpectedly ceased operations due to poor management starting from the 19th, leaving over 1,300 travelers unable to go abroad as planned. The Tourism Bureau stated that these two are affiliated businesses, and their financial difficulties arose from personal bank loans and unpaid debts to other industry players, prompting them to voluntarily report that they could no longer operate.

There are still piles of promotional flyers, but the travel agency has not just locked its doors — it has even pulled down the security gate. This Fuxia Travel Agency has come to an abrupt halt. Going further down the same building, the long-established Yuanhe Travel Agency also posted a notice at its entrance, stating that the company must cease operations due to financial issues. Anything movable in the office had already been cleared out, and even the boss’s office looked rather desolate.

Due to pressure from bank loans and unpaid debts to peers, Yuanhe Travel Agency — which has been in business for 39 years and specializes in routes across Asia, America, New Zealand, and mainland China — along with its subsidiary Fuxia Travel Agency, voluntarily reported on Friday that they were unable to continue operations. Statistics show that Yuanhe had collected around NT$17.26 million in travel fees, affecting 921 travelers, while Fuxia had collected NT$5.95 million, impacting 380 people. In total, about 1,300 travelers are unable to go abroad as planned.

Xu Yao, head of business operations at Yuanhe Travel Agency, said, “We will do our best to process refunds where possible, and for those we can’t handle, we will seek assistance from the Tourism Bureau and the Travel Quality Assurance Association.” The owner’s son, who serves as the head of business operations, publicly apologized, stressing that they will see things through to the end. Fortunately, the agency is a member of the Travel Quality Assurance Association, so all travelers who haven’t departed will receive a full refund, and those already on their trips will not be affected.
