Bus Route 19 Begins Service on the Road: Free Rides for the First Month on the Yongkang Dawan–Anping Route in Tainan

A new bus route strengthens public transport in the Yongkang Dawan area. The long-awaited urban “Route 19” bus officially began service on the 25th, traveling from Dawan High School, passing through the train station, then via Yonghua Road to Yizai Jincheng and Anyi Bridge, offering convenient access for students and sightseeing alike. It follows the same fare system as regular urban buses, with a flat rate of NT$18 for one section—regardless of distance—and passengers can pay by swiping a card or using cash upon boarding. Free rides are offered during the first month of operation, and the public is encouraged to take advantage of this service.

The Transportation Bureau has planned “Route 19” as an urban bus line operating 54 trips per day, with a high frequency of one bus every 15 minutes during peak hours. The route starts at Dawan High School, travels along Dawan Road, Kunshan University of Science and Technology, and Xiaodong Road before reaching the train station, then continues along Chenggong Road, Zhongzheng Road, Ximen Road, and Yonghua Road to reach Yizai Jincheng, the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Hall, and Anyi Parking Lot. It serves as a vital transit line connecting education, daily life, and tourism. In addition to linking the Fifth Phase Redevelopment Area, Route 19 complements the existing urban “Route 2” bus in the Dawan area, which operates 94 trips daily between Kunshan University of Science and Technology and Anping, as well as the feeder “Green 17” bus, which runs 40 trips daily between Xinhua and downtown Tainan, together forming a comprehensive, dense, and diverse bus network for the Dawan area.

In addition to the launch of Route 19, in conjunction with the opening of Dream Mall at the end of the year, Route 20 will also extend its terminal station from Kunshan University of Science and Technology to the “Nanfang Dream Mall” stop starting December 25, operating 60 trips daily. At the same time, the Taiwan High Speed Rail Express Bus—Chi Mei Hospital Line—will also begin stopping at “Nanfang Dream Mall” on that date. The public is welcome to make use of these services.
