Established in 1971, Chi Mei Foods initially offered frozen prepared foods such as “baozi” and fine ready meals, later expanding into various Western-style baked goods. In late 2016, the company launched the “Chi Mei Foods Happiness Factory,” integrating food, tourism, sightseeing, and shopping. To date, its most popular attraction among visitors of all ages is the DIY workshop, which offers regular monthly classes on cupcake decoration, pineapple bun baking, shumai making, and handmade cookies, along with occasional fun and engaging DIY sessions like making zongzi for the Dragon Boat Festival.

Chi Mei Foods’ frozen baozi are the company’s flagship product, and the factory offers related interactive experiences. The Steamed Bun Brand Image Pavilion features six major themed zones: Chi Mei Impressions, The Origin of Delicious Food, Stories of Baozi, Decoding the Production Process, A Stylish Healthy Life, and Chi Mei Happiness Street. Among the multimedia interactive installations is a steamer that emits steam—kids and adults alike love posing in front of it, pretending the buns are piping hot, making it one of the must-take photos at the Happiness Factory. Additionally, visitors can book guided tours where professional guides provide deeper insights into the exhibits and offer a glimpse into the actual production line operations.

The Chi Mei Foods Happiness Factory offers the Strolling Café and themed flavor restaurants for visitors to rest and enjoy food. The themed flavor restaurant has 200 seats, featuring comfortable sofa areas, free Wi-Fi, charging facilities, as well as light salads, Chinese and Western rice and noodle dishes, fried food platters, snowflake ice, and various beverages. The Strolling Café, with window seats facing the Tainan Airport, boasts floor-to-ceiling windows offering prime views, and includes 40 seats serving afternoon tea, coffee, various drinks, and Chinese and Western bread.
