Three major New Year's Eve events gather in the harbor city—Kaohsiung MRT to operate non-stop for 42 hours!

As one of Taiwan’s most anticipated New Year's Eve destinations, Kaohsiung will feature exciting events including the Dream Mall celebrations, E-DA Theme Park festivities, and the Mayday New Year's Eve concert. Coupled with the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on New Year’s Day, Kaohsiung MRT has announced it will remain open continuously for 42 hours from December 31st to January 1st to handle the large crowds.

With three major New Year's Eve events happening in Kaohsiung this year, a huge influx of people is expected, prompting the Kaohsiung MRT to launch special transport measures. According to the MRT, the final trains on the Red and Orange lines will depart from their terminal stations at 3:00 AM on New Year’s Day, and service intervals will be dynamically adjusted based on transfer needs and crowd conditions at stations, with the shortest interval being just 2.5 minutes.

In addition, to accommodate the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on New Year’s Day, the first trains will depart from all terminal stations at 4:30 AM, ensuring that those wishing to witness the flag-raising won’t have to worry about transportation. Moreover, to avoid long ticket purchase queues at stations when concerts and New Year's Eve events conclude, Kaohsiung MRT not only encourages the use of the EasyCard but also offers “single-journey ticket vouchers” that allow quick entry and boarding without purchasing individual tickets. These vouchers will be available for sale at MRT station service counters from today until noon on December 31st.
