Colorful blooms dress the earth in winter finery – Five stunning flower fields to watch in the “Flower Sea Season of Eastern Taiwan”

The most anticipated “2014 Eastern Taiwan Flower Season” has kicked off this winter. This year, the organizers have transformed five areas—Fuli, Chihshang, Guanshan, Chenggong, and Beinan—into five major flower seas, decorated with vibrant and dazzling blossoms that resemble giant rainbows lying on the land. Along the 12 townships of the East Rift Valley, there are also 345 hectares of rapeseed fields and 102 hectares of cosmos flower seas. The breathtaking scenery will last from now until next spring.

This year, the organizers have integrated local culture and used colorful flowers as dyes to create large-scale artworks across Fuli, Chihshang, Guanshan, Chenggong, and Beinan. These floral masterpieces blend seamlessly with nature and will be on display from now until April next year, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty of the flower seas upon arrival.

Hualien Fuli Region Theme: Peacock Spreads Its Tail – Five Elements Take Flight
Area: 1.7 hectares
Blooming period: From now until the end of March 2015
Location: 310km mark on Provincial Highway 9 (between Fuli Farmers’ Association Rice Mill and Luoshan Organic Village)

Taitung Chihshang Region Theme: Four Seasons Flower Sea – Symbiosis with Nature
Area: 2.4 hectares
Blooming period: From now until the end of April 2015
Location: Leisure Tourism Center at Chihshang Township Farmers’ Association Golden Harvest Hall

Location: Centered around the 107.5km mark on Provincial Highway 11
