Free admission in January plus live music performances – Chimei Museum officially opens on New Year’s Day

Chimei Museum is set to officially open on New Year’s Day 2015. To celebrate January as the museum’s opening month and to embody its vision of being “a museum for everyone, by everyone,” in addition to offering free admission by appointment for the entire month of January (online time slots are now fully booked), a series of celebratory events have been planned for every weekend in January.

According to Chimei Museum, on New Year’s Day and on January 10, 11, and 24, there will be a series of musical performances by the Earth Choir, Taipingjing Handbell Choir, National Cheng Kung University Mandolin Orchestra, and Lao Dian Choir. Additionally, on January 3, a grand opening celebration ceremony will be held, inviting local residents and individuals who have made special contributions to the museum, aiming to highlight the importance of local cultural development.

Chimei Museum also noted,The museum operates on an appointment-only entry system. Visitors must make a reservation online and then present their reservation number at the museum lobby to purchase tickets for entry.Since the launch of online reservations, all January time slots have been fully booked. The online reservation system will reopen on New Year’s Day 2015, accepting booking requests for museum open days from February 1 to February 28, 2015. Those interested can make reservations through the official Chimei Museum website.
