How to enjoy a Boracay solo trip? 10 things you’ll regret not doing

If you follow the Fun Travel Host fan page, you’ve probably noticed that I recently went on a vacation to Boracay, Philippines. That’s right—whether you’re on a tour or traveling independently in Boracay, you’ll always have at least a full free day to explore. So what should you do in Boracay? Fun Travel Host Guo Renrong has put together a list of ten must-do activities.

1 Head to White Beach every afternoon at 5 PM to enjoy the view & snap lots of photos

The most beautiful and famous thing about Boracay is its sunset Up!! And there's only less than an hour each day to enjoy it—so don’t waste it!!!

2 Find a great hotel to relax and unwind

A perfect resort can really elevate your vacation. The photo above shows the Golden Phoenix Hotel where I stayed this time—the lighting at night is truly stunning. The photo below is of ESCONDIDO BEACH RESORT, a European-style resort run by Taiwanese, which is also a great choice for a Boracay getaway.

3 Visit the island’s only Golden Gun Range – experience the thrill of live ammunition

If you’ve never tried shooting real guns in Taiwan, you can’t miss this activity in Boracay—it’s quite exciting. I hit four out of five shots that day. It costs about $80 USD for 20 bullets, and there’s a personal instructor to guide you.

4 Have a refreshing mango smoothie – a must-try!!!

If, like me, you can’t stand the heat, then a freshly made mango smoothie is a must when in Boracay. Even the ones from street vendors are super delicious. If you want to buy dried mangoes, remember the brand CEBU—it tastes much better than 7D.

5 Take a souvenir photo on Virgin Island

The photo above shows the panoramic view of Virgin Island. Climb the stairs and you’ll find the Virgin Mary statue.

6 Try some Taiwanese street food

What? You came all the way to Boracay and you’re eating Taiwanese street food?! Yep!!! There are actually many Taiwanese people living long-term in Boracay who are very welcoming. Be sure to look up Bruce— he’s super hospitable and will give you tons of travel tips for Boracay.

7 Have a romantic Italian dinner on the beach

8 Ride the island’s unique transportation – > the蟹船 (crab boat) & motor taxis

9 Go on a half-day tour of D’Mall

D’Mall is the island’s largest shopping center, and visitors to Boracay simply must check it out. You can even grab a Filipino burger here!!!

10 You must drink the "Boracay 16 Shots"

Boracay Stars is definitely the top nightclub in Boracay. Outdoors, there’s a beach area where you can sip drinks and stargaze, while indoors, DJs from Taiwan spin the hottest tracks. You can dance and drink to your heart’s content. The most famous drink here is the Boracay 16 Shots~~~ If you can finish all 16 without falling over, there’s a special prize waiting for you!!!
