The American Korean BBQ restaurant "Honey Pig" is entering Taiwan, with its first branch set to officially open on January 8th in Taipei's Xinyi District. In addition to serving authentic Korean BBQ, Honey Pig’s biggest highlight is that its cast-iron grills and seasonings are all "imported directly from South Korea." To maintain quality, founder Micky, the head chef, and other key staff members—totaling 10 people—will be stationed in Taiwan long-term, returning to the U.S. only once operations are running smoothly.

Honey Pig Korean BBQ hails from the United States and was founded in 2008 by Korean-American Micky in Annandale, Virginia, on the East Coast of the U.S. It was initially created as a family-style restaurant for Koreans living in the U.S. to enjoy authentic Korean BBQ, with the goal of bringing people together through food. It currently has five branches on the U.S. East Coast, and its standout feature is 24-hour operation. Even after expanding to Taiwan, it continues to offer "24-hour" non-stop service, making it the first Korean BBQ restaurant in the Greater Taipei area to operate around the clock.
The menu is divided into different meal periods including breakfast, business lunch, dinner, and late-night meals. In addition to BBQ, it also offers stone pot bibimbap, Korean hot pot dishes, soups, and various side dishes. Diners receive four free side dishes with their meal, which can also be ordered unlimited refills.

Unlike typical Korean BBQ that uses copper griddles, Honey Pig uses specially made cast-iron grills (43 cm in diameter). Micky explained that cast iron heats up quickly, and the larger size allows for grilling plenty of meat at once. Additionally, Micky mentioned that besides the ingredients, the cast-iron grills, seasoning sauces, and kimchi are all "imported directly from South Korea," aiming to provide the most authentic Korean cuisine (BBQ). Honey Pig also offers table-side service, meaning once you order your meat, a server will grill it for you — no need to do it yourself.

Honey Pig’s prices are quite reasonable, with pork per person ranging between NT$299–399, beef around NT$500, while specialty thick-cut Korean bone-in short ribs and specialty thin-cut Los Angeles-style short ribs are pricier at NT$799 and NT$759 respectively. Spicy stir-fried dishes are all NT$399. As for Korean bibimbap (NT$219), Korean stone pot bibimbap (NT$279), seafood pancakes (NT$219), and Korean glass noodles (NT$219), their prices are considered mid-range.
