The World’s “Most Unique” Metro Maps — Is Someone Actually Running on Them?

Metro maps from different countries come in all shapes — some are long and narrow, others twist and turn. The *Washington Post* stripped several urban transit maps down to just their lines and colors, allowing us to see the most basic forms of these metro systems. We’ve picked out some particularly interesting ones for you to guess: which cities do they belong to? Can you recognize them?

1. Most Similar to Taipei Metro

With short lines clustered closely together, this one bears a slight resemblance to the Taipei Metro map. Can you guess which city it is? Here’s a hint: it’s the capital of a certain country.

2. The Most Complex

That standalone “broken-off” section in the bottom left corner is a pretty obvious clue — it’s a world-famous metropolis that everyone would recognize. Those who’ve been there probably have quite an impression of it.

3. The Cleanest and Neatest

Almost entirely made up of straight lines, giving off a very clean and neat vibe — but somehow it also looks a bit like Tokyo?

4. The Cutest

Connected by a large circle to other lines, this one has an indescribably adorable feel. This country is also known for a particularly cute souvenir — can travelers who’ve been there guess which one it is?

5. The Busiest?

How should we put this… don’t you think it looks like someone carrying a ton of stuff while running? Kind of reminds you of Anne Hathaway’s busy little secretary in *The Devil Wears Prada*, doesn’t it?
