Hokkaido’s Only “Sea of Clouds Pool Observation Deck” – Soak in an Open-Air Hot Spring While Watching the Sunset

Operated by Japan’s Hoshino Resorts, “Hokkaido TOMAMU” is famous for its sea of clouds observation decks. To offer visitors a brand-new sea of clouds experience, Hokkaido TOMAMU has built two new sea of clouds observation decks this year, along with a one-month-only sea of clouds open-air hot spring. Available by private booking with only one group per day, it allows guests to enjoy a hot spring soak while sitting above the clouds.

A short 10-minute cable car ride from the hotel takes you up 1,000 meters above the ground to admire the breathtaking sea of clouds — the most captivating sight at Hokkaido TOMAMU.

To provide visitors with a fresh sea of clouds experience, Hokkaido TOMAMU has newly constructed two observation decks this year. One is the “Cloud Pool Observation Deck,” designed with the image of a cloud. With a diameter of about 10 meters, it resembles a white cloud resting atop the mountain. Guests can enjoy the sensation of floating among the clouds in the pool while taking in the magnificent views of the Daisetsuzan Mountain Range.

The other, the “Contour Line Bench Observation Deck,” is inspired by the contour lines commonly seen in weather maps. It features layered, gradually ascending benches stretching 117 meters along the mountainside, offering the best vantage points to admire the sea of clouds from various heights. The deck can accommodate up to 200 guests. Both new observation decks are set to open on September 12.

In addition, Hokkaido TOMAMU is launching a one-month-only “Sea of Clouds Open-Air Hot Spring” in September. Available by private booking with only one reservation per day, guests can enjoy exclusive access to the sea of clouds observation deck in the evening and soak in the open-air hot spring, experiencing the ultimate indulgence of soaking above the clouds.
