Try something new: A minimalist Nordic-style café in Zhongli with expertly roasted beans

I was genuinely moved—there’s finally a decent coffee shop near Chung Yuan University, and it roasts its own beans... Wow, I’m so touched!!!! I wonder where the owner is from, but he seems incredibly kind-hearted. I really hope this place stays open for good. These past few days, I’ve been feeling dizzy due to a cold and dealing with stomach pain. Today, I ordered two hot lattes, and the first one was truly a pleasant surprise. Wow!! The latte art is so beautiful, and the milk foam is perfectly textured.

But when the second cup arrived, my initial expectations were somewhat dashed, haha... it was just average for Zhongli’s coffee standards.

I ordered the scone recommended by the staff, priced at NT$60—typical of Taipei prices. The taste was pretty good, but the plating felt a bit casual. The ambiance of the space, however, is fantastic.

The concrete walls mixed with clear finishes, paired with simple furniture, wood, and lighting in muted tones, give off a Nordic minimalist vibe. It makes you wonder why the owner chose to open a shop here.

The music in the café is similar to what I’d play at home—there’s Yosuke Yamashita and some other great tracks. Anyway, I’m just happy that there’s finally a proper café behind Chung Yuan University. I really hope this place keeps going strong.

Today, on a Sunday afternoon, it was quite crowded, and business seemed good. I think there is definitely an audience for quality coffee here—it just lacked a place like this. I’m so happy today!! There’s finally roasted coffee near Chung Yuan University!!! Hu Si Hu Zuo (Backdoor Café)
