Kaohsiung-Hong Kong Dual Home Port Launched – New Year Holiday Cruises to Be Unveiled in March

To promote a series of cruise itineraries with Kaohsiung as the home port, the Kaohsiung City Government held today (the 3rd) the “2015 Star Cruises SuperStar Aquarius Kaohsiung-Hong Kong Dual Home Port Launch Press Conference,” encouraging cruise operators to use Kaohsiung Port as a home base and offering southern Taiwanese more diverse travel options.

In 2014, Kaohsiung Port welcomed 45 cruise ship calls, surpassing 130,000 passenger movements, and successfully attracted cruise operators to establish Kaohsiung as a home port, launching various itineraries. For 2015, Kaohsiung Port currently has a forecast of 51 cruise ship calls, including 20 calls by Star Cruises. In March, a series of New Year holiday cruises with Kaohsiung as the home port will be launched, gradually elevating Kaohsiung as a key cruise hub.

The Ocean Affairs Bureau stated that the “SuperStar Aquarius,” which will visit in March, has a displacement of over 50,000 tons. This luxury cruise ship offers a range of onboard facilities and services, allowing passengers to start their vacation as soon as they board. Aside from enjoying five-star dining from around the world, guests can leisurely watch sunrises, sunsets, and starry skies at sea. With Chinese-speaking butler services to eliminate language barriers, it’s a great option for travelers planning to explore beyond the cruise.
