A Stroll Through Taichung’s Audit Village: Food, Culture, and Retro Popsicles

What’s summer without ice cream?! Hahaha, with each year getting hotter, it really makes you want to eat a big bowl of ice every single day～

When “Yo Ice” popped up on Instagram, my eyes lit up immediately—wasn’t this the popsicle I used to eat as a kid?! The popsicles back then were split into two sections, and you had to twist hard to separate them. It’s been ages since I’ve had one, so seeing “Yo Ice” brought back that nostalgic childhood feeling.

“Yo Ice” is located near Audit Village, making it the perfect spot to grab a cold treat while exploring the market!(We only found out later that they started selling shaved ice around mid-August XD)

“Yo Ice” is on Meicun Road, right next to Audit Village and the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts—if you’re not paying attention, you might ride right past it on your bike XD

From the entrance, you can tell the shop has a cozy wooden vibe. Inside and out, it’s decorated with vintage wooden window frames and old knick-knacks, each piece adding to the charm. There’s even a bubble tea machine at the door—if you just want to grab something and go, you can press a button to call the owner over. But there are also plenty of seats inside, so sitting down with a popsicle and taking a break is a great option too ^______________^ /

After reading a few articles about “Yo Ice,” I learned that it’s actually an offshoot brand...

The main business is woodworking, and this summer, Lengzi is telling everyone, “This is where you get your ‘Yo Ice’!” And while we first visited, they only had popsicles, they’ve recently started offering shaved ice too Up～ What makes these popsicles so appealing is their simple packaging—you can really see the filling inside the transparent bag, chilled and still after being frozen :D

For just 39 NTD per popsicle, you can easily hold one in your hand, sit down, and enjoy a simple taste... Or take it with you as you continue exploring Audit Village’s market. You can even buy a bunch to take home and chill for the kids.

That day, we each got one—a black sugar pineapple and a plum love flavor. I still remember tasting the actual fruit bits, and how fresh, cool, and refreshing the flavors were...
