As a cold front hits, the first auspicious snowfall of the winter season fell this morning (6th) at the Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area in Yilan, which sits at an altitude of about 1,900 meters. Though the snowfall wasn’t heavy, many excited visitors built small snowmen on the pristine white landscape and took photos to mark the occasion.
The Luodong Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau stated that starting at 7:30 am, due to sufficient mountain temperature and humidity, snow began to fall at the Taiping Mountain National Forest Recreation Area, mixed with sleet. However, it only lasted about an hour before ending, with an accumulated snow depth of about 0.5 cm, and tree branches were covered with rime. (News source: Central News Agency)
