Located in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia is about to transition from summer to autumn—with bright sunshine and pleasant weather. The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival will also take place from February 27 to March 15. One of the highlights of the event is the “World’s Longest Lunch,” featuring emerging artisanal bread-making and seating for 1,500 diners at once, as well as wine tastings with 40 of the world’s top winemakers.

The 2015 Melbourne Food & Wine Festival covers everything from well-known dining precincts and rooftop bars to hidden cellars, bringing a comprehensive selection of experiences for travelers. The “World’s Longest Lunch” (World’s Longest Lunch) will kick off on the first day of the festival in Fitzroy Gardens in downtown Melbourne. In this garden with a strong British countryside vibe, over 1,500 people can sit around an extra-long table, enjoying the beautiful scenery while savoring Melbourne-style cuisine.

In addition, the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival has introduced a new “Artisan Bakery Festival” this year, which will showcase artisanal bread-making in full force. The organizers will transform Queensbridge Square into a highly creative baking workshop, complete with a bar and café. During this time, the heart of Melbourne’s city center will be filled with the enticing aroma of freshly baked bread. For wine enthusiasts, from February 28 to March 1, more than 40 wineries will gather at Melbourne Town Hall, where winemakers will personally pour biodynamically produced wines for guests—an equally tempting event.
