CNN reports that the world's most expensive beef noodle is in Taipei — at Father's Beef Noodles, where one bowl costs NT$10,000, and it’s worth every penny

It caught the attention of CNN, which ran a feature titled “World’s Most Expensive Beef Noodles Are in Taipei”, sparking curiosity among many foreigners: why does a bowl of noodles cost NT$10,000? What kind of flavors are hidden inside?

Located on Minquan East Road, Father's Beef Noodles is now in the hands of the second generation. “The way we make beef noodles sets us apart from other shops.” It may sound a bit mysterious, but Father's Beef Noodles uses four premium types of beef from the U.S. and Australia — only the best cuts, such as well-marbled ribeye and ribs, are used in the “President’s Beef Noodles.”

The beef selected for the noodles undergoes three days of freezing and simmering, then is cut according to the muscle texture before further cooking. There are six soup base options and five types of noodles, essentially offering a customized experience.

In fact, the founder, Wang Congyuan, is not originally from Taiwan but is an overseas Chinese who lived in Canada for 20 years. Father's Beef Noodles only started in 1990. Business was quite tough in the beginning. “Our flavor didn’t meet Taiwanese expectations, and our partner decided to quit just 11 days in,” said Wang Congyuan’s son, Wang Yinqi.

Father's Beef Noodles’ NT$10,000 Presidential Beef Noodles were only finalized in 2007. “For 14 years, the price of the President’s Beef Noodles was left blank. We wanted customers to decide its value after tasting it.” It wasn’t until 2007 that the price tag for this bowl of noodles was set at NT$10,000.

“Both my dad and I are beef noodle fans. Even when we eat out, we often order beef noodles,” this dedication explains why it made it onto CNN.
