Sister-line collaboration: Free train vouchers available in Chichi and Isumi from the 11th

Taiwan Railways’ “Chichi Line” and Japan’s “Isumi Railway Co., Ltd.” have launched a cross-border partnership that combines the unique features of both scenic railways. By exchanging one-day passes for free, the initiative aims to attract more visitors to explore each other’s destinations.The campaign runs from February 11, 2015, to December 31, 2016. Present either an original “Chichi Line One-Day Pass” or an “Isumi Railway One-Day Free Ride Ticket” along with your “passport” to get a same-day ticket for free.

Japan’s Isumi Railway Co., Ltd. is a private railway company located on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture. It operates one of the prefecture’s well-known local rail lines, spanning 26.8 kilometers. The route features beautiful scenery and rural landscapes, and focuses mainly on tourism. As such, it shares similarities with the Chichi Line in terms of route length, operation style, and distinctive scenery.

Passengers holding an original “Chichi Line One-Day Pass” issued by Taiwan Railways can exchange it for a same-day “Isumi Railway One-Day Free Ride Ticket” at the window of Tadokoro Station or the sales office at Ohara Station in Japan (business hours: weekdays 10:00–17:00, weekends 9:00–17:00), from February 11 of this year through December 31, 2016. One pass is exchanged for one, with full-price tickets being exchanged for adult tickets and discounted tickets for child tickets.

Foreign travelers are also welcome to present their “passport” and an original “Isumi Railway One-Day Free Ride Ticket” to exchange for a same-day “Chichi Line One-Day Pass” issued by Taiwan Railways at the same time period at Taipei Station (Window 12) or at stations such as Changhua, Tianzhong, and Ershui. Only one pass can be exchanged per passport.
