The “2015 Tainan International Drum Festival,” a Lunar New Year event at the Shihgu Cultural and Creative Park, will present a five-day (from the 1st on February 19 to the 5th on February 23) drum performance extravaganza filled with festive cheer. Highlights include a tiger-themed ceremonial drum float parade on the first day, street performances, drumming competitions, and culminating in a grand closing ceremony featuring six groups performing together on the gear-shaped stage of the outdoor cultural theater. This Lunar New Year musical feast will feature many outstanding groups from around the world, such as Japan’s nationally treasured Ondekoza Asuka Group, GONNA Taiko Group, and BONTEN Taiko Group; France’s Panama Steel Drum Orchestra; Shanghai’s Jiangzhou Drum Troupe; and Taiwan’s Shihgu Percussion Group, all coming together for a joint performance. With five daytime shows and two additional evening performances under the stars, audiences can experience the passion of each international group!
