Travel Alert for Taitung During Chinese New Year: No Vehicles Allowed on Beilang Boulevard, Traffic Control in Zhiben Hot Spring Area

As Lunar New Year approaches, to manage the influx of visitors during the holiday and the upcoming 228 Peace Memorial Day long weekend, traffic control measures will be implemented at Taitung’s popular attractions — Beilang Boulevard and Zhiben Hot Spring Area. The public is advised to pay close attention to the controlled road sections and timings to avoid delays caused by detours.

The road that gained fame thanks to Takeshi Kaneshiro—Beilang Boulevard and Heaven’s Road—will be closed to all motor vehicles (with exhaust emissions) from February 18 to February 23, and again from February 27 to March 1,except for residents holding valid access permits.Pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles (such as bicycles) are encouraged to use these areas on foot or by bike.

During the Chinese New Year period from New Year’s Eve to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (February 18 to 23), the first traffic control point will be set up on the Flood Prevention Road and Zhiben Bridge, while the second control point will be located at Yongnan Bridge and County Highway 194.Vehicles entering the hot spring area should drive via Yongnan Bridge and then follow the diversion route. Vehicles exiting the hot spring area toward downtown Taitung should take County Highway 194 toward Zhiben Bridge. Vehicles heading toward Kaohsiung should take County Highway 194 toward Zhiben Bridge and the Flood Prevention Road.

To ease traffic congestion in the hot spring area, tour buses are prohibited from stopping on the roadside to pick up or drop off passengers. The tour bus parking lot in front of Golden Link Hotel (near the Four-Faced Buddha) has been designated as a designated pickup/drop-off and turnaround zone for tour buses.
