The Kaohsiung Lantern Festival will light up the banks of the Love River on the 21st in a dazzling display. Nighttime traffic controls will be enforced around the event area.

The 2015 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Arts Festival will launch in grand style on February 21st. Spanning 23 days, the festival features light installations, light sculptures, food zones, and more. Due to these activities, traffic controls will be in place around the venue, so the public is advised to take note and use public transportation to get there.

This year’s lantern festival will again be held along both sides of the Love River. Based on past experience, the event draws large crowds, and as parking is limited nearby, the public is encouraged to make use of the seven MRT transfer parking lots, park there, and then take the MRT to the venue. Take the Orange Line to either City Council Station or Yanchengpu Station, and exit from Exit 2—you’ll reach the venue in about two minutes on foot. Alternatively, you can take Bus No. 50 (Wufu Trunk Line) and get off at Kaohsiung Girls’ High School Station to arrive at the venue.

To prevent congestion between pedestrians and vehicles,from February 21st to March 15th during the lantern festival period, the section of Hedong Road (between Qixian 2nd Road and Wufu 2nd Road) and Hexi Road (between Wufu 3rd Road and Dazhi Road) will be closed daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. On March 7th, the day of the parade, Zhongshan Road (between Qingnian 1st Road and Minsheng 2nd Road), Wufu Road (between Hedong Road and Zhongshan 1st Road), and Minsheng 2nd Road (between Hedong Road and Chenggong Road) will be controlled from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
