A café infused with Australian charm—delightful latte art paired with homemade desserts for a blissful treat

This GEMI Cafe Kangaroo Café is a highly recommended spot by friends. I’ve been here several times, and each visit impresses me with how much care the owners put into running this cozy little café. GEMI Café is operated by a young couple who met while working and studying abroad in Australia. After returning to Taiwan, they incorporated their memories of life in Australia, the café’s interior design, and culinary specialties into this space. It’s a great recommendation for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea.

The location of Kangaroo Café is quite unique—it’s situated within a residential building complex.

I love the manual door-opening button design. To be honest, I’m not a fan of those automatic motion-sensor doors that flinch and open/close at every little breeze.

The café can accommodate around 20 people. There are many photos of Australia displayed inside. The use of bright colors makes the space instantly uplifting and, most importantly, incredibly lively.

It’s a very youthful café—you can sense that from the decor and layout.

Apparently, the coffee machine is top-of-the-line.

The café offers homemade desserts made by the owner.

Simple self-service with no service charge.

The café provides thoughtful storage baskets so you don’t have to place your bag on the floor.

This is my favorite spot—by the window, bright, and featuring a comfy sofa seat.

It’s a perfect spot for chatting. The café offers brunch items, pancakes, homemade desserts, coffee, beverages, and more, with plenty of choices. But since it was quite some time ago when I visited, I didn’t take any new photos of the menu this time.

Don’t underestimate the café’s latte art skills—during our gathering, the owner made over ten latte art designs in one day. Impressive!!!

This was my first deer latte art. It’s super difficult—the details of the antlers and fur are incredibly fine.

The kangaroo is simpler, but the base latte art still requires skill.

The Totoro latte art is so cute.

If you’re not into cute latte art, I recommend this black sugar coffee—no latte art possible here, but it’s topped with black sugar and roasted.

This one is pretty good too, but when it comes to roasting sugar, Yang Café in Zhongli still takes the crown.

Australian brunch—Roast Chicken Berry Chick, NT$190, includes a cup of black tea.

Vinaigrette salad with crisp, fresh vegetables made using organic produce from Puli. The selection changes each time depending on seasonal offerings—truly delicious. The cost of such quality ingredients is higher than regular lettuce, but I personally prefer this kind.

A large slice of ham with roast chicken on top—the ham is clearly top quality.

The roast chicken is delicious. Well-seasoned, slightly spicy, and the smoky texture is tender and juicy. Really tasty.

The bagel is spread with garlic cream, which tastes good and isn’t dry.

The perfect doneness—really nice. I dipped it with the bagel, and it was delicious.

Black tea

We also ordered the marshmallow thick toast, which was pretty average.

We ordered the banana chocolate muffin, with hemp|? [p>

It looks really well baked.

Vanilla ice cream and whipped cream are common pairings with muffins.

We added hemp|? but the hemp|? wasn’t that much, and the taste was rather plain, not as flavorful as expected.

This is the new egg sandwich. The thick fried egg looks quite satisfying, and there’s a freshly made juice (since I didn’t drink it, I can’t confirm if it’s yogurt-based).

Great presentation.

Scone, the shape is a bit unattractive, but the taste is said to be good.

I love the caramel salted cheese cake. I even took some to go after finishing it. The caramel is homemade by the owner, sweet with a salty touch—very delicious. I recommend this one!!
