Pingtung’s painted rice fields collaborate with LINE; 3D Brown Bear to appear in a month

In 2015, Asia’s largest rice field event will take place in Pingtung County. On the 26th, Pingtung County Magistrate Pan Meng-an announced a collaboration with a messaging app company to plant one hectare of colored rice fields in Nanzhou Township. Using Taiwan’s colored rice technology, mobile stickers will “pop up” and emerge above the rice fields, playing with the public on the Pingtung Plain.

In early January this year, the county government team reached a cooperation agreement with LINE Taiwan within a week, securing authorization to use LINE FRIENDS characters in the rice field art. It is expected that within a month, LINE FRIENDS will start to “grow” in the rice fields. In addition to support from the messaging app company, this rice field painting event has also obtained technology transfer authorization for four colors—purple, white, gold, and green—giving the images a three-dimensional effect. The first Pingtung International Colored Rice Art Festival will be held from March 28 to May 10 next to the farmland of Cihui Medical College in Nanzhou Township.
