Enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea by the floor-to-ceiling windows & savor the "King Oyster Mushroom" bread

I think most people in Taichung are quite familiar with this stretch of Jingming Street, but over the past decade or so... I’ve always felt it’s no longer as bustling. I remember that ‘Spring Water Hall’ was closed for renovation for a year or two, and during that time, it seemed even less crowded. Instead, the space gave rise to a variety of uniquely styled cafés and restaurants along nearby Jingcheng Street. Honestly, owning a place like that and turning it into a café would be absolutely wonderful.

This ‘P+ HOUSE’ is a place I stumbled upon on a regular weekday off—just an unplanned visit. The first thing that caught my eye was the exterior design of the shop, with its simple black-and-white palette and a touch of trendy literary flair. XD The large glass windows also let in so much natural light, making the interior feel incredibly bright and inviting.

I really love sitting by the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. Coincidentally, next door is a blue-and-white themed restaurant that attracts many foreigners. From here, it feels like you’re just a glass pane away from the street, yet it’s as relaxing as being in a world of your own. The winter sunlight streaming in is incredibly comforting. The first-floor space features white and nude-toned concrete... with a hint of industrial style and a touch of fashionable flair. I genuinely like the décor, both inside and out.

Oh, and I just noticed the floor has an industrial vibe... This is actually the first time I’ve encountered such flooring in a restaurant. The tables and chairs are simple yet comfortable wooden pieces, with blue seats that surprisingly complement the industrial interior design.

I really love this outdoor-facing area—the floor-to-ceiling windows offer a seamless view between the inside and outside. It feels open and unrestricted.

Lately, I’ve been seeing more and more YOUBIKES around Taichung. It seems many visitors choose this mode of transport. I remember once seeing a foreigner casually riding one to work—so confident and skilled that I couldn’t help but stare. I should really look into trying it myself someday. XD

Heading up to the second floor reveals even more charming seating spots. No matter where you sit, you get a great view outside. The transparency makes it feel like sunlight is priceless, making you just want to sit down with a cup of coffee.

One spot in particular—by the window—has small high-top seating. Suddenly, I thought this would be perfect for photos. It’s also ideal for couples to sit close together, sipping coffee and gazing out the window. XD

Every detail is something worth pausing to admire—a symbol, a lamp, a play of light and shadow—all of them create the perfect ambiance for a relaxing break.

I ordered two breakfast sets, both classic American breakfasts with a drink. But honestly, the portion felt a bit small after finishing. I felt like 220 NT$ should get you more. Maybe it’s because of the location, or perhaps they’re still adjusting since opening—either way, the food was tasty, but the portions were a bit skimpy and the price a bit steep. That’s all.

The American breakfast included two types of sausages and bacon, both at 220 NT$. At that price, you can probably tell how I feel. But the scrambled eggs were delicious, the bread was great, and the sausages and bacon were good too. Still, compared to many other brunch spots in Taichung, this plate felt a bit lacking. A price of around 150 NT$ would’ve been more fitting. XD

The bacon and German sausages were freshly fried, hot and delicious. The scrambled eggs were juicy and silky smooth. But what we loved most was the oddly shaped bread. If it were sold solo, I’d definitely buy it!! XD

The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Its shape even reminded me of ‘king oyster mushrooms’!! XD And it also brought to mind the small round rolls from ballet bread. I wonder if anyone else who’s tried it agrees? When we left, a young man who seemed to be the owner was really warm and polite. I hope he keeps improving—maybe add more filling without raising the price. XD
