Back after 4 months: Taitung’s “Sanxiantai Eight-Arch Bridge” reopens today

The Sanxiantai Eight-Arch Bridge, a representative sunrise-watching spot in Taitung, underwent seismic reinforcement and improvement works starting in June. After a four-month hiatus, it has now officially reopened, once again showcasing the beauty of the eight-arch bridge.

The Sanxiantai Eight-Arch Bridge was completed in 1987 and has now been in service for 30 years. In consideration of the bridge’s lifecycle and safety, as well as to enhance the service quality of the Sanxiantai Recreation Area, the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration temporarily closed the bridge to carry out comprehensive seismic inspections and reinforcement maintenance. These included structural inspections, crack repairs, improvements to bridge deck drainage, and repainting. After four months of maintenance, the bridge reopened to the public on the 21st.
