A romantic European-style private garden – an afternoon with roses, cherry blossoms, and bougainvillea

This winter, holidays always find me seeking the company of roses...

Maybe it's because I haven’t grown roses on my little balcony in ages? The No. 29 Rose Garden on County Road 139 of Baguashan has been renamed as No. 29 Garden. The owner said roses aren’t easy to grow here, and the entire garden is still under planning.

As a private garden, No. 29 Garden is only open on weekends and holidays. It’s located near Wei Re Shan Qiu, and it’s been a while since I last visited this area — it’s become even livelier than before.

Enter via Lane 1066 of Bagualo Road and follow the signs to get there. The exterior of the garden is simple, and aside from the narrow path that makes it hard to pass other vehicles, there aren’t many parking spaces on-site, so it’s better to park outside and walk in.

Because: 1. The garden’s address is No. 29. 2. The rose garden owner’s birthday is March 29. 3. The owner was exactly 29 years old when they planned to start the rose garden. Therefore: it was originally named No. 29 Rose Garden, now changed to No. 29 Garden.

Upon entering, it goes without saying — it’s a vibe that I love; there’s an atmosphere of a European countryside, especially that stone water pond and the creamy-yellow building at the back.

The wooden shelf area at the back displays many cacti, each small and adorable, making me admire them for quite a while.

My favorite among them is this pot — a whole little turtle-shaped design that’s super cartoonish, absolutely adorable.

There are several arched frames in the garden, currently without any climbing plants. I’m really looking forward to the day when there will be rose arches... ^^

In one corner of the garden, there’s a brick building covered in climbing vines, which I also really love.

Climb the stairs up to the viewing platform, where you can gaze at the scenery in the valley below. It wasn’t cold that day, and with a gentle breeze blowing, it was really comfortable.

From the red-brick viewing platform, you can also look down on the garden from above, like a little European garden.

Especially the concentric circle design in the center of the garden, resembling a blooming flower, unfolding layer by layer from the center out, circle after circle.

After strolling halfway around the path, we returned to the house to escape the blazing sun, enjoying something to eat or drink and just relaxing... =^^=

There were self-grown vegetables at the counter; I brought home a few yams that day, and after cooking them in pork rib soup, they turned out soft and chewy, just like taro.

Pick your favorite spot to sit and enjoy the rustic charm of the garden.

That day, we ordered a pancake because my friend had a toothache and couldn’t eat much... ~"~

It came with honey for dipping, and although it was just a simple four pieces of pancake, the aroma and deliciousness were top-notch, leaving us wanting more.

The light yellow one is (hot) pumpkin soy milk, the darker yellow is (iced) pumpkin & pear. Both drinks had a strong, pure pumpkin flavor. Especially the pumpkin & pear — I still remember the taste to this day; the sweet pumpkin upon entry, the lingering pear aftertaste, who knew pumpkin and pear could be such a great match, leaving me with wonderful memories.

This plant should be astonishingly beautiful when in full bloom — hopefully, I’ll get to see it then... ^^

There’s a staircase next to the main building. After resting, climb up to the viewing platform again.

When we visited that day, a cherry blossom tree was beautifully in bloom.

I’m also looking forward to the bougainvillea covering the entire viewing platform.

The road to No. 29 Garden is narrow, so walking in is recommended.

Although the garden is still under construction, the overall feel is something I really love. Just sitting there quietly, not chatting or scrolling on the phone, taking in the beautiful view, basking in the winter sun — it’s a happy winter moment. When leaving, the owner said next time there will be something new, which is very exciting. I’ll definitely find time to visit again.
