Relive the magic of Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival — Pingxi offers 50 free lanterns to release every month

The internationally acclaimed “Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival,” hailed as one of those lifetime must-see celebrations, has recently concluded, yet the breathtaking sight of thousands of lanterns ascending together still lingers vividly in the memories of many. To allow more travelers the chance to experience the joy and thrill of watching their own lantern float gracefully skyward, New Taipei City’s Tourism Bureau will provide 50 free 4TN sky lanterns monthly starting from March for visitors to release.

The New Taipei City Tourism Bureau’s newly planned event “Colorful Tong Blessings ~ Monthly Sky Lantern Release”will offer 50 free 4TN sky lanterns every second Sunday of the month (excluding March) between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM for visitors to release at the Pingxi Police Precinct, starting from March 15.Colorful pens will be provided on-site for writing wishes, and once the lanterns are decorated, staff will assist in releasing them as a blessing.

The New Taipei City Tourism Bureau stated that each lantern must be released by 2 to 3 adults, and those who fail to check in on the day of the event will be considered to have forfeited their spot, which will then be given to other visitors on-site. To facilitate travel planning, lanterns will be released individually after decoration. Year-round appointment registrations for all sessions are now being accepted.
