2017 Tohoku Play Day in Japan: Cup Noodles Eating Contest to Find Taiwan’s Female Big Eater

The “Tohoku Play Day in Japan,” which attracts nearly 100,000 participants every year, will be held from December 8 to 10 at Huashan 1914 Creative Park. One of this year’s highlights is the “Cup Noodles Taiwan Representative Selection Contest.” In 2017, Taiwan’s “female big eater” Qianqian competed in Japan, devouring 226 bowls in just five minutes to win second place in the women’s division, impressing Japanese participants with the strength of Taiwanese eaters.

In addition to the eating contest, this year’s “Tohoku Play Day in Japan” will feature snow machines to recreate the snow hut scenes of the Tohoku Snow Festival. There will also be a variety of traditional performances, such as the iconic “Hirosaki Nebuta Lantern” from Aomori, a unique product of winter festivals, immersing visitors in the rich culture of Japan’s Tohoku region.
