Have you gone cherry blossom viewing yet? The Tianyuan Temple in Tamsui is in full bloom, while the Hope River in Tucheng is adorned with pink highlights.

With the spring equinox approaching, Yoshino cherry blossoms have begun to bloom across various districts in New Taipei City. Along the Hope River in Tucheng District, rows of cherry and azalea blossoms can be seen flourishing along the riverbank. This Saturday (the 21st), the Tucheng District Office will host the “Hope River Left Bank Cherry Blossom Viewing” event at the riverside plaza, allowing the public to enjoy the blossoms along with performances. Meanwhile, in Tamsui, also in New Taipei, the Tianyuan Temple’s cherry blossoms are nearly in full bloom. To accommodate the influx of blossom viewers, the temple is currently open 24 hours a day.

Organizers stated that the Hope River Left Bank has over 60 cherry trees planted since 2011, along with flowering plants such as osmanthus, azaleas, and bougainvillea planted along the pathway. The railings by the river are also decorated with bromeliad planters. Over the years, this area has been transformed into an ecological park filled with birdsong and fragrant blooms, connected along the MRT green corridor, spanning a total length of 1.6 kilometers. Currently, about 10–20% of the cherry blossoms are in bloom, while the section of the path beyond the Land Temple is around 40–50% in bloom. On the day of the event, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, a variety of performances including dance, sign language, and band music will be held, and an eco-guided tour team composed of volunteers will also provide ecological explanations for interested visitors.

In addition, the over 300 cherry trees at the Wujitianyuan Temple in Tamsui’s Tamsui District have now entered full bloom. In response to the blooming conditions, the temple has been open 24 hours a day since the 13th, and has maintained bright lighting around the Altar Hall, adhering to the principle of keeping the Hall lights on all night.
