The little glowing sprites of the night are back at Sun Moon Lake,2015 Sun Moon Lake Taomi Firefly Watching SeasonThe event runs from April 3 to May 17. To maintain viewing quality and protect the ecological environment, the spectacular sight of fireflies lighting up the night is limited to 700 visitors per day. Those who wish to attend should seize the chance to sign up right away!

Additionally, to protect the sustainable ecology of the Caoni Wetlands, on March 26, the “Firefly Habitat Clean-up for a Green Home” event will see local residents, businesses, and students and faculty from National Chi Nan University cleaning along the firefly viewing route, removing invasive species that harm the wetland ecosystem such as apple snails and Leersia hexandra.

The 2015 Sun Moon Lake Taomi Firefly Watching Season officially opened registration on March 26, with a daily limit of 700 participants. Each visitor is charged a maximum fee of NT$100, which includes pre-tour education and guided commentary for firefly watchers. During the 17-day event period, traffic control and shuttle bus services will also be implemented on holidays to help visitors enjoy the wonders of nature while further fulfilling their responsibility to protect the ecosystem.
