One-Day Tour to "Angel’s Tears" – 20 On-Site Applications Accepted Daily at Lake Cidan

Known as "Angel’s Tears," the Lake Cidan National Trail will reopen in April with a daily visitor cap of 160. To accommodate those looking for short hikes, sightseeing, or other day-trip needs, the Taitung Forest District Office has announced that on-site applications for entry will be accepted daily, though limited to a set quota.

Regular hikers who wish to enter the Lake Cidan National Trail and stay overnight must apply for entry between 45 and 8 days before their intended lodging date, the Taitung Forest District Office stated.The originally planned daily total capacity was 176 people, but since the Lake Cidan campsite has not yet been fully prepared, only 70 spots at the Xiangyang Mountain Hut and 70 at the Lake Cidan Mountain Hut — totaling 140 spots — are currently available for application..

In addition, to serve hikers looking for a same-day return trip, the Taitung Forest District Office willaccept on-site applications for day trips between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily after reopening at the Xiangyang Forest Recreation Area mountain access control station, with a limit of 20 applicants.Visitors must present ID and must exit the Xiangyang Forest Recreation Area mountain access control station by 5 p.m.

The Taitung Forest District Office also reminds hikers that if those on a same-day return trip venture beyond the Xiangyang National Forest Recreation Area and into the Lake Cidan National Trail area, they must apply for an entry permit from the National Police Agency.
